Dental Veneers

Teeth are not only practical for us, but often especially visually attractive. Keeping them in good health can be challenging. Problems often occur with age or by accident - its surface begins to be uneven or a piece of it gets chipped off. The veneers are a modern solution for front surfaces of the teeth.

What are veneers?

Veneers are custom-made shells of ceramic material bonded to the front surface of the teeth. In dental practice, it is one of the most widely used aesthetic tasks. They are used to correct the tooth - either its shape, colour or even positioning. With the aid of composite materials, it is therefore possible to correct developmental defects or results of injury. The veneer is unrecognizable from your own teeth to the naked eye.

Aesthetic dentistry is a field offering many solutions to brighten your smile. For more information about the possibilities we offer within cosmetic dentistry can be found here

When are the veneers a good solution?

  1. Teeth that are misaligned or uneven
  2. Tooth that is weakened or discoloured
  3. Uneven surfaces of the teeth - teeth that have craters or bulges in them
  4. Teeth that are chipped
  5. Teeth with small gaps between them

What are your most frequent questions?

Before you decide to get veneers, your teeth must be treated and free of tooth decay or tartar. Veneers are not an ideal solution also for people suffering from periodontitis or bruxism, i.e. teeth grinding.

The most important step is your first visit and consultation. The dentist will evaluate your situation and propose the most appropriate solution. If you opt for veneers, your doctor will prepare the tooth to fit the veneer painlessly - the tooth will be trimmed off and imprints will be made. These are used as a prototype for the permanent veneers. However, you will be provided a temporary version of dental veneers which will be replaced by permanent veneers during your next visit.

Although the veneer plates are only a few millimetres thick, they are very durable and strong. Their lifetime varies, depending on the material used, how they are used and whether you follow proper hygiene principles. The range is really wide - from 5 to 20 years, or even longer. However, if the veneer breaks, it can simply be replaced with a new one.
